Prayer

According to Dr. Harold Koenig of Duke University's Center for Spirituality, prayer is good medicine. Prayer is also an expression of gratitude, a cry for guidance, a place of refuge, a connection with the Divine—or whatever we choose to name it. There doesn't seem to be any question as to why people pray. But how? Celeste Yacoboni was inspired to find out. After she had posed her question to family, friends, and leading figures around the world—religious, agnostic, and in-between—she chose 129 responses to comprise this collection of prayers, essays and offerings. The ways of praying are as varied as those who pray: kneeling, walking, fishing, playing instruments, clasping one's hands over the heart. How Do You Pray? is a prayerbook for modern times, one that embraces all viewpoints, provides spiritual nourishment, and offers many paths to our inner divine nature. Contributors include Gregg Braden, Donna Eden, Arjuna Ardagh, Byron Katie, Huston Smith, Alex Grey, Eli Jaxon-Bear, Marianne Williamson, Matthew Fox, and many more.
