Oracle decks provide answers to your questions using a principle of synchronicity: seemingly random choices provide profound insights and connections that we wouldn't have ordinarily seen. The origin of this unusual oracle deck demonstrates another principle of synchronicity: having the right person in the right place at the right time with the right tools.

Alana Fairchild has published several books and decks about divination and goddesses, so she has a track record with her publisher. She “happened to” encounter the artwork of Wang Yiguang, a Chinese painter who had fallen in love with the Tibetan Plateau and its people. The artist had painted a surreal series of flying people and animals set in that region, which Fairchild instantly loved. She talked to her publisher, and was able to contact the artist, and the deck was born. The beautiful, wild, amazing images paired with Fairchild's deep interpretations and connections to an unusual aspect of the goddess Kuan Yin provide unexpected insights as well as practical advice.

Sy Montgomery introduces us to one of the most alien creatures we could ever hope to meet, and helps us to fall in love. She immerses you in the aquarium worlds of Athena and Kali, two of the octopuses (yes, that's the plural!) she meets, and the wild worlds of their cousins. The stories of these creatures, as well as the amazing people who love them, might make you want to meet an octopus, take its tentacle in hand, and gaze into its eyes. Even if you find octopuses frightening or repulsive, Sy Montgomery and her colorful companions will gently but inexorably change your mind.

How many of us can ask for what we want? As children, we're taught that it's selfish and even rude. Amanda Palmer, indie rock-star, composer, and author, tells the story of learning to trust the process of asking, and how to receive whatever might come. In moving and humorous writing, she tells the story of her beginnings in performance art, through forming her band, connecting with fans all over the world, working out the courtship with her famous husband along the way, and the ultimate asking: the famous record-breaking Kickstarter campaign in which she raised $1.2 million to produce her CD. (Watch her TED Talk to see Amanda’s asking in action!)
